Meet Rocket, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Therapy Dog Nominated for National Award

COEUR D’ALENE, ID – Rocket’s work has earned him national recognition, and he’s now a nominee for the First Responder Paws Therapy Dog Award.

This 2-year-old Brittany Spaniel has been serving with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) for over a year, providing comfort to first responders and community members in crisis.

Alongside Chaplain John McSwain, Rocket helps staff during stressful situations and visits victims of traumatic events, like the Medical Lake and Elk fires. His presence has also brought comfort to Deputy Gerald Heinlein and his wife, Brianna, during a difficult pregnancy, offering unconditional love when it was needed most.

Now nominated for a national award, Rocket continues to make a positive impact. Voting for the First Responder Paws Therapy Dog Award is open through December 4.
